Turning the tables at the Institute of Fundraising Convention

Last week, I had the privilege of attending the Institute of Fundraising Convention, taking part on a panel in the session ‘Turning the tables – your chance to quiz the philanthropic experts’

In the session, and in this Third Sector article, I made the point that funders should treat charities as they would a business - require a 3-5 year strategic plan with clear mission, KPIs and funding requirements and then contribute towards that. Instead of dribbling small, shorter term project money and expecting tailored reports. It should demand more accountability, agility and partnership from charities and enable their leaders to focus on working smarter, learning continuously and delivering more impact.
